Krakow Women's Route

Women connected with Krakow have left their historical legacy of achievement in the form of contemporary electoral rights, the right to study, rights in the workplace and the overturning of restrictive social ideas about gender roles. These women are often ignored—and thus invalidated-- in Polish school textbooks and in guide books to the city of Krakow.

Our aim is to restore the living memory of the women of Krakow, their achievements and their part in the heritage of Krakow, whether fighting for equal rights for women or, as individuals, overcoming social sex barriers. Our educational and research activities are aimed at restoring recognition to figures forgotten in the collective memory in the eyes of Krakow residents and those beyond the city.

The purpose of "Krakow Women's Route" is to strengthen civic engagement, commitment to democracy, civil society and gender equality through education about the history of these women, their role in emancipation and their struggle for equality as an element in the fight for democracy.
